PERRY — Raymond “Butch” A. Baxter, age 61, of Middle Ridge Road, Perry, died April 4, 2014, at Regency Hospital in Warrensville Heights.
He was born July 14, 1952, in Clarksburg, W.Va., the son of Raymond L. and Martha (Dudash) Baxter. He had been a resident of Lake County for the majority of his life.
He was a self-employed dry wall hanger. He loved stock car racing, fishing and his family. Around the race tracks, he was known as the “Silly Hillbilly” and “One Lap Baxter”.
He is survived by his mother, Katherine Baxter, whom raised Butch, of Geneva-on-the-Lake; children, Raymond “Butch” Baxter Jr., Angela Baxter and Heather Baxter; two grandchildren, Brandon and Brooke Baxter, siblings, Kevin Baxter of Geneva, Jeff Baxter of Geneva-on-the-Lake, Helen “Kay” Baxter of Fairport Harbor, Carol Baxter of Perry and Pamela Walker Omesis of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Carrie Baxter; and four sisters, Delores Snooks Lawson, Jodee Kosch, Barbara Reed and Sandra Strong.
A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, April 19th, at 10 a.m., at Riverside Cemetery in Painesville. Following the Service, a gathering will be held at Concord Woods, 11211 Spear Road, Concord. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m., at Stadium Lounge in Painesville. All are welcome to all of the above Services and gatherings.
