ASHTABULA — Leona May “Lee” Taft, age 83, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at her home.
The daughter of Julius and Ethel (Heath) Bennett, she was born May 7, 1930, in Glens Falls, N.Y., and has been an Ashtabula resident since 1960.
Prior to her retirement, she worked as a Division Manager for the Lawson Milk Company and as a Manager for Rite Aid.
She was a competitive bowler, avid golfer, and enjoyed swimming.
She is survived by three children, Gary (Crystal) Taft of Glendale, Ariz., Dr. Stephen (Cindy) Taft, PhD of Cedar Falls, Iowa and Karen (James) Scott of Ashtabula; 11 grandchildren, Jordan Scott, Julie Scott, James Scott, Micah O’Handley, Jennifer Taft, Laura Taylor-Taft, Adam Taft, Aaron Taft, Addison Taft, Austin Taft and Anna Taft; 11 great-grandchildren, Jacob Williams, Joshua Williams, Frank Scott, Sarena O'Handley, Micah O'Handley II, Allison Stenger, Nathan Taylor-Taft, twins Evan and Rachel Taylor-Taft, Matthew Taft, and Tyler Taft; and one sister, Lynda Bennett of Ashtabula.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Lawrence Bennett; two grandchildren, Scott Allen O’Handley and Christyn Heather O’Handley; and her parents.
A Calling Hour will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of Service at 2 p.m., on Saturday, June 29th, at DUCRO FUNERAL SERVICES AND CREMATORY, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio, with Fr. Gerald Gammon presiding.
