VESTA SIX, Pa. —
Roy “Ollie” Baumgardner, age 71, of Vesta Six, died Sunday May 4, 2014, in his home.
He was born Dec. 11, 1942, in Denbo, Pa., a son of late Charles “Chucu” and Anna Mae Lunt Baumgardner.
For several years he worked as an underground miner for J&L Steel Corporation, Vesta #5.
Mr. Baumgardner was a longtime coach of the Victory Club Softball Team. He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved to make people laugh, even through his darkest times. Ollie loved being at the river and enjoyed cooking and felt that dessert should always be served before a meal.
Surviving are two daughters, Jennifer Pagac of Ortonville, Mich. and Regina Giffin (Woodrow) of Denbo, Pa.; one son, Roy C. Baumgardner (Andrea) of Denbo, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Samantha Giffin, Casey Baumgardner, Cody Tarr, Woodrow “Bob” Giffin, Alina Baumgardner, Brennan Pagac and Lily Pagac; three brothers, Eugene Baumgardner of Akron, Ohio, Jerome Baumgardner of Willoughby, Ohio and David Baumgardner of Denbo, Pa.; one sister, Karen Laucher of Indianapolis, Ind.; several nieces and nephews; and his former wife and best friend, Sandrea Baumgardner.
Deceased in addition to his parents are three sisters, Mary Margaret Baumgardner, Sharon McIntosh and Patricia “Patty” Woods.
Friends will be received Wednesday, May 7th, from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m., the hour of Service, in the JOHN B. GREENLEE FUNERAL HOME, 2830 Main St., Beallsville, PA., with Eugene Baumgardner officiating. Interment is private.
