TUCSON, AZ - - Deidrea "Dee" Weiss, age 60, of Tucson, Arizona, formerly of Girard, Pennsylvania, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 29, 2006, surrounded by family and friends.
Born on June 14, 1946, in North Girard, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late George and Anna Hlifka.
She had worked as a Nurse's Aide at Brown Memorial Hospital in Conneaut, Ohio, and at various government jobs, the last being with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in California.
Dee enjoyed baking, cleaning, being outdoors, and most of all, helping others whenever she had the opportunity.
Throughout her life, she cared for and prayed with many cancer patients during their illnesses.
She was very active in her church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister.
Dee is survived by Robert Blain Weiss, her husband of nearly 40 years; two sons, Jason Robert Weiss and his wife Meredith of Katy, Texas, and Blain Philip Weiss of Tucson, Arizona; a daughter, Andrea Janelle Weiss of Tucson, Arizona; a sister, Patricia Hope and her husband Bob of Fullerton, California; two brothers, Frank Hlifka and his wife Pat of Newport Beach, California, and George Hlifka and his wife Dorothy of Conneaut; a grandson, Kyle Nicholas Weiss of Katy, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
An 11 a.m. Graveside Service will be held at St. John's Cemetery in Girard, Pennsylvania, on Thursday, September 7, 2006.

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - - Phyllis Fleming Edmison, age 62, of Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, died peacefully in her home on Monday, August 28, 2006, surrounded by family and friends. She was a 10-year stroke survivor, and had battled cancer for two and one-half years.
Survivors are her husband, Ray, with whom she celebrated 25 years of marriage in March; her mother, Eloise Fleming of Geneva; sister, Carol F. (Jerry) Chenoweth of Perry; brother, Allen (Martha) Fleming of Nairobi, Kenya; nieces, Claire and Anna Fleming; and her aunt, Elsie F. Voss of Gainesville, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her father, F. Paul Fleming of Geneva.
An avid educator, her career began as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Micronesia 38 years ago. She also taught in Texas, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania. The last 14 years were at Milton Hershey School, where she taught fashion design and costume design. In addition, she designed and costumed many theatrical productions.
A Celebration Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, September 4, 2006, at Christ Church United Church of Christ, Elizabethtown. Jazz pianist Joe Utterback will play for the memorial service and will present a concert in honor of Phyllis at 7:30 p.m. that evening, also at the church.

MONTVILLE - - Mike W. Shuminski Jr., age 88, of Montville, Ohio, died Thursday evening, August 31, 2006, at Heather Hill Health Care Center, Munson Township, Ohio.
Born August 29, 1918, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Michael W. and Antonette (Kaminski) Shuminski, and was a lifelong resident of the area. A U.S. Army WW II Veteran, he served from 1941 to 1945 in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre. He was married to Thelma Richardson for 55 loving years.
In 1980, he retired from Horvitz Construction Company where he was a Construction Laborer.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Thompson, Ohio.
An avid Indians fan, he enjoyed gardening, hunting and anything outdoors, Polka music, and dancing.
Survivors include two sons, Michael of Montville and Steve of Garrettsville; three daughters, Nancy Shuminski of Middlefield, Carol Gurgul of Orwell, and Beth Ann (Harvey) Swonger of Huntsburg; two grandchildren, Doug Gurgul and Amanda Swonger; and one sister, Gertrude Beclay of Chesterland.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma; his parents; three brothers, Stanley, John, and Edward; one sister, Helen Racut; and one nephew, Stanley Shuminski Jr.
Funeral Services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, September 6, 2006, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 103 North Maple Street, Orwell, Ohio, with Father Gregory Fedor of the church officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Orwell.

ALTHEA M. SMITH
ERIE, Pa. - - Althea M. Gollihugh Smith, age 78, died Tuesday evening, August 29, 2006, at the Hamot Medical Center. She resided in Lawrence Park.
Born May 1, 1928, in Willard, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Herbert A. and Blanche Robinson Gollihugh. She was Valedictorian of her 1945 high school class at East Bank High School, East Bank, West Virginia.
She graduated from West Virginia Institute of Technology, and after college, Althea went to Washington, D.C., and worked as a Secretary for the US government for a short time.
Althea attended Mercyhurst College to qualify to work at O.C.I., where she taught typing and office practices for 14 years. She also taught night school at Iroquois High School, and was a high school tutor. Althea also earned her Paralegal Certificate from Behrend College.
She attended St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Lawrence Park, where she was past Superintendent and taught Sunday school.
Althea read the Sunday newspaper on Closed Circuit Radio for the Erie Center for the Blind.
She was a Girl Scout Leader, toured Europe, and was bestowed the honor of Kentucky Colonel from the Governor of Kentucky.
An avid reader, she enjoyed sewing, and was a Scrabble Official.
She is survived by a daughter, Debra Lira and her husband Luis of Richmond, Ohio; a son, David Gollihugh and his wife Mary of North East, Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Carol Gollihugh; and a son-in-law, Richard E. Eckel of Franklin, Pennsylvania.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Frances Eckel; and a brother, Donald Gollihugh.
Friends may call at the G. R. BAILEY FUNERAL HOME, 4396 Iroquois Avenue, Erie, Pennsylvania, today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 8:30 p.m. Interment will be at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.

ASHTABULA - - LaVera Scoville, age 89, of Ashtabula, Ohio, died Friday, September 1, 2006, at University Hospitals of Cleveland.
She was born June 10, 1917, in Lenox, Ohio.
A homemaker, Mrs. Scoville enjoyed country and Rock and Roll music, sewing, bowling, NASCAR, and drag racing.
Survivors include her sons, Erwin (Barb), Arnold (Pat), and Carroll "Buddy" (Josephine "Mickey"); 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Walter Hulse of Florida, and Richard (Eloise) of California.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey; granddaughters, Bernadette and Jane; grandson, Ricky Blair; and sister, Lillian Kalinowski.
All services and interment were private.
No visitation will be held.

RINEYVILLE, KY - - Becky Jean Metcalf, age 54, of Rineyville, Kentucky, died Thursday, August 24, 2006, at Jewish Hospital, Louisville, Kentucky.
Born in Willoughby, Ohio, on August 25, 1952, she was the daughter of James and Nan Temple. She graduated from Conneaut High School and spent most of her life in Conneaut.
She worked at Summit Toyota Auto factory in Kentucky.
She is survived by her son, Mark Temple and Theresa of Corydon, Indiana; her father, James H. Temple of Albertsville, Alabama; three brothers, James Temple and Ruth of Rineyville, Kentucky, Brian Temple and Kathy of East Springfield, Pennsylvania, and Richard Temple of Memphis; two grandchildren, Christopher Temple and Andrea Temple; two half-brothers, Jim Temple and Al Temple, and one half-sister, Lisa Temple, all of Alabama; five nieces, Molly Temple of Kentucky, Danielle Szabo of Pennsylvania, Tiffany Temple of Wisconsin, Patty and Marc Robertson of Ohio, and Sarah and John Snyder of North Carolina.
Her mother, Nan Williams Lauer, precedes her in death.
Funeral Services were held on Monday, August 28, 2006, at NELSON-EDELEN-BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, Vine Grove, Kentucky, with Johnny Cousin officiating.
