ASHTABULA — Lucille “Lu” Elaine Lee, of Ashtabula, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2013, at Ashtabula County Medical Center.

Born Dec. 14, 1925, in Ashtabula, she was the daughter of the late Meade and Josephine (Gosmer) Dunn, and had been a lifelong area resident. Lu graduated from Edgewood High School Class of 1943, and later continued to organize and help coordinate all the class reunions that she worked many tireless hours on. She married the love of her life Robert Lee on July 6, 1946, and together spent many happy years together raising two children.

Lu worked at the Illuminating Company for 6 years, before starting her career with Kent State University. She retired from Kent State University Ashtabula Campus in 1988 after 30 years of service as a personnel coordinator.

A Protestant by faith, Lucille attended the East Side Presbyterian Church for many years. She was a member of the Lake Erie Dearies of Red Hat Society, Woman’s Club of Ashtabula, and the Ashtabula Historical Society.

A true lover of all dogs, she especially enjoyed her poodles, “Skeeter and Boomer”. Lu loved music, she enjoyed playing the piano and organ for her own enjoyment. She was an avid reader of mystery novels, and in her spare time, she enjoyed collecting antiques, dolls, and teddy bears.

Lu was preceded in death by her husband of almost 64 years, Robert Lee on June 9, 2010; her daughter, Janis Jo Skinner on Feb. 28, 1975; sisters-in-law, Betty VanSlyke and Nancy Makey; and her parents.

She is survived by her son, Robert Lee and his wife Paula of Alliance, Ohio; brother, Donald (Louise) Dunn of Ashtabula; grandchildren, Jordan Lee of Alliance and Jonathan Lee of Chicago; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, June 20th, at DUCRO FUNERAL SERVICES AND CREMATORY, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, with the Rev. Shane Nanney, of East Side Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Edgewood Cemetery.

Calling Hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, June 19th, and on Thursday, from 10 a.m. until the time of Service, at the Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to East Side Presbyterian Church, or the Animal Protective League.
