CONNEAUT — With sorrow the Diocese of Youngstown announce the death of Reverend Charles Poore on Thursday, May 16, 2013. He was 50 years old.

He is survived by his two brothers, Randy (Karen) Poore and Mark (Sheila) Poore; sisters, Karen (John) Andrew, Sharon Copeland and Jeanne (Cleo) Rudler, all of Conneaut, Ohio; nieces, Christine McMunn, Pam Koziarski and Deanna Watson; nephews, John Andrew, Michael Andrew, Mathew Copeland, Randy Poore II, Logan Poore, Kayla Poore and Christopher Poore; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and his canine companion, Ryann.

Father Poore was born July 5, 1962, in Conneaut, Ohio. He graduated from Conneaut High School. He earned a bachelor of arts in history from Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus and a master of divinity from Mount St. Mary's of the West Seminary in Cincinnati.

Father Poore was ordained on June 10, 1989 by the Most Reverend James Malone in the Cathedral of St. Columbia. Following ordination, Father Poore served as parochial vicar of St. Charles, Boardman, St. Michael, Canton, St. Joseph, Austintown, and St. Rose, Girard. He was appointed pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus, Youngstown (merged parish name St. Angela Merici), administrator of St. Rose of Lima, Youngstown (now in Campbell), administrator of Queen of the Holy Rosary, Lowellville and most recently as pastor of St. Joseph, Jefferson and St. Andrew, Sheffield. Father Poore served two terms on the diocesan Prebyteral Council.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with the Most Reverend George V. Murry, S.J. Bishop of Youngstown as celebrant at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 20th, in St. Frances Cabrini Church, 744 Mill St., Conneaut, Ohio, with viewing in the Church from 8:45 to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Conneaut, Ohio.

Calling Hours are Sunday, May 19th, from 2 to 4 p.m. in St. Andrew Bobola Church, 3700 Rt. 193, Kingsville, (Sheffield), Ohio. A Prayer Service will be held at 4 p.m. in the Church.

Donations may be made to Catholic Charities of Ashtabula County for the Fr. Charles Poore Fund for Mental Health. THE WACKERLY FUNERAL HOME in Canton, Ohio is in charge of arrangements.
