ASHTABULA — Angelo Masters, age 89, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 13, 1924, in Ashtabula, Ohio, the son of Anthony and Matilda (Notarianni) Masters and had been a lifelong Ashtabula resident.
A 1943 graduate of Ashtabula High School, he retired from Ashtabula Public Works in 1986, after 22 years of service. He previously worked for the New York Central Railroad for 22 years.
A lifetime member of St. Joseph Church and former member of the Ashtabula Moose Lodge #547, he loved fishing and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Carmel Masters, whom he married Jan. 24, 1948; one son, David (Sharra) Mastroianni of Tempe, Ariz.; one daughter, Darlene Dumperth of Jefferson; six grandchildren, Leah and Rachel Dumperth, Trina Hedgcock, Tracy Benson, Tanum Loftin and Tristen Haight; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Anthony Masters of Ashtabula.
He was preceded in death by one brother, John Masters; one sister, Mary DiPiero; and his parents. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Carmella in infancy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 6th, at St. Joseph Church, 3330 Lake Ave., Ashtabula. The Rev. Fr. Ernesto Rodriguez, will preside. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
At his request, no calling hours will be observed.
