SAYBROOK TOWNSHIP — Edith Mazzola, age 90, of Ashtabula, Ohio, died on Tuesday morning, March 4, 2014, at Saybrook Landing.
Born Feb. 10, 1924, in Ashtabula, she was the daughter of Nicholas and Anita (Laurello) DeGeorge. Edith graduated from Ashtabula High School, Class of 42. On April 16 , 1947, she married Carl Mazzola in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
Mrs. Mazzola was a member of Our Lady of Peace Church and several area golf leagues. She enjoyed golf, cooking, dancing, sewing and crocheting.
Survivors include her sons, Louis (Laurie) Mazzola of Erie, Colo., and David Mazzola of Plano, Texas; daughter, Ann Mazzola-McDonald of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Dave and Alex Mazzola; brothers, Eugene, John and Jerry DeGeorge; sisters, Antoinette DeGeronimo, Mary DeGeorge and Diane D’itri; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl Mazzola; brothers, Robert DeGeorge and Ronald DeGeorge; and infant brother, Guy DeGeorge.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 7th, at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Peace Parish, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, with the Rev. Father Ernesto Rodriguez as celebrant. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Thursday evening, March 6th, from 5 to 7 p.m. at GUERRIERO FUNERAL HOME, 1550 W. 19th St. in Ashtabula.
