HARPERSFIELD TOWNSHIP — James G. “Jamie” Echerd II, age 49, of Harpersfield Township, Ohio, passed away at home on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014.
He was born in Geneva, Ohio, on Oct. 22, 1964, the son of Maxine (Jones) and James “Jim” Echerd.
Jamie was a kind and caring man with a big heart who was devoted to those he loved. From a young age, he was fascinated with anything that had an engine, like his father. He was a lifelong animal lover, especially his crazy cat, “Shyla.” Although he was a man of few words, he brought laughter to any occasion. While spending time with family, he most enjoyed goofing around with the kids. He was a dedicated, hard-working man who did little for himself, but was always willing to lend a hand.
He is survived by his daughters, Erin and Brianne Echerd of Tremont; sister, Denise Weinmann of Harpersfield; niece, Kaylee; nephews, Kyle and Evan; step-sister, Debra Reynolds; step-brothers, Keith (Christine) Stancliff, Daniel (Becky) Stancliff, Briant (Lisa) Baker and Kevin (Terry) Baker; and his girlfriend, Mayai Jeffries.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Maxine Echerd; and step-mother, Barbara (Bowler) Echerd.
Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, Feb. 24th, at THE BEHM FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 175 S. Broadway, Geneva. A Memorial Service will follow at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Friends of the Harpersfield Covered Bridge Park, 940 Atkins Road, Geneva, Ohio 44041.
