Catherine A. Dansereau

KINGSVILLE — Catherine A. “Kay” Dansereau, age 82, passed away Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, at the Cleveland Clinic.

She was born Oct. 4, 1931, in Brockton, Mass., the daughter of Edwin and Elizabeth (Cohen) Haskell and had been an area resident since 1950. After graduating high school in Massachusetts, she attended Business College until meeting the love of her life, Fred Dansereau while he was working as an over-the-road truck driver. They wed on May 7, 1950, and she moved home with him to Ashtabula County.

Catherine loved to read and had a passion for cats, caring for a countless number during her lifetime. She was a leader for the Girl Scouts and Brownies while her daughter was involved. She was deeply committed to the Kingsville Baptist Church for over 30 years where she served on numerous committees, including the social committee; as a substitute Sunday School teacher; and as treasurer for the American Baptist Women’s Association.

She was also a NASCAR and Boston Red Sox fan (thrilled they won the World Series this year), and enjoyed traveling, especially her trips to stay with her daughter in Florida during the winter months over the past 20 years.

Her survivors include three children, Marie Peet of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Ed (Sheila) Dansereau and Martin (Carolyn) Dansereau, both of Kingsville; four grandchildren, Keith (Patty) Cook, Tina Cook, Vicki (Marty) Clason and Julie (Jon) Dansereau-Tackett; two great-grandchildren, Joshua Pedigo and Taylor Mullen; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Dansereau on August 29, 1993; her sister, Mary DiBona; and her parents.

Calling Hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14th, at the ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, Ohio.

A Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 15th, at the Kingsville First Baptist Church, 6003 St. Rt. 193, Kingsville, Ohio. The Rev. David Hines, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville, Ohio.
