His family plans to create a scholarship fund in his memory for Edgewood High School graduates.

Mark had his pilot’s license and was an avid sailor, competing in local and national level races. He is credited for bringing the Force 5 national sailboat race to Ashtabula County. Mark loved fishing and spending time on Lake Erie, as he was a member of the Ashtabula Yacht Club. He participated for many years in the Northeast Ohio Soap Box Derby. Mark enjoyed building soap box cars with his boys and donated cars to other families so they could share in the experience. He was heavily involved in Boy Scouts of America, in which he had served as pack leader while his boys participated. Most importantly, Mark was known for being an inspiration in his sons’ lives and supporting them in all they did.
