ASHTABULA — Patrick William Hamilton, age 61, of Lake Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 6, 1951 in Ashtabula, the son of James William “Hambone” Hamilton and Dorothy (Evans) Hamilton and had been a lifelong Ashtabula resident.
A 1969 graduate of Harbor High School, he worked 15 years as a press operator for Rockwell Brake and later 10 years as a truck driver for Schneider Trucking.
Patrick had attended the First Assembly of God and the Pentecostal Church of God through the years and was a spiritual person.
A member of the VFW Post #943 (where he had served as president of the Men’s Auxiliary), he had also belonged to Army Navy Union, the Ashtabula Eagles, and the American Legion, Dewey-Howlett Post #103, where he was involved with the Legion Riders.
He enjoyed hunting, motorcycles and singing Karaoke, at which most thought he was pretty good. However, his true passion showed through in the devotion of his life to Veterans, a cause he undertook in honor of his father’s service to his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
His survivors include three children, Pam (Ray) Thomas and Lisa Hamilton, both of Orlando, Fla., and Joseph (Michelle) Hamilton of Ashtabula; 11 grandchildren, Allen, Katie, Liberty, Joey, Haylee, Izabel, Logan, Brandon, Anthony, Seth and Anthony; one great-grandchild, Allissa; his parents, James “Hambone” and Dorothy Hamilton of Ashtabula; and two brothers, Terrance (Rosalee) Hamilton and James (Inga) Hamilton, both of Ashtabula.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, Oct. 28th, at the American Legion Dewey-Howlett Post #103, W. 19th St., Ashtabula.
A Committal Service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 30th, at Greenlawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, North Kingsville, Ohio. The Rev. Brian Wright, Pastor of Faith Community Church, will officiate.
Donations in his memory may be made to: DUCRO FUNERAL SERVICES AND CREMATORY, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, who is in charge of arrangements.
