GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Loretta Raynak Knox, Beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, after a brief illness. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on July 15, 1924. She was 89 years old.
She is survived by sons, David Knox (Aileen) and Michael Knox; her grandsons, Adam and Bradley Knox; and her sister, Mary Rouge of Ashtabula, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Thomas Knox; her son, Robert Knox; and two brothers, Thomas and Joseph.
Loretta was a homemaker, avid gardener and master quilter who donated many of her beautiful handmade quilts to several charitable organizations for fund raising. She was past president of the St. Petersburg Woman’s Club, president of the St. Petersburg Garden Club and a member of the St. Petersburg quilting club for over 25 years. She was a lifelong member of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association.
She was a Catholic, a parishioner of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church in St. Petersburg for 36 years before moving to Gainesville and joining Holy Faith Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. at Holy Faith Catholic Church on Friday, Sept. 27th, with Father Emmanuel as celebrant. Burial will follow at 3 p.m., at Calvary Cemetery in Clearwater, Fla.
