CORTLAND — Lueta “Lee” Elizabeth Baker, age 95, of Cortland, Ohio, passed away at Lake Vista in Cortland, Ohio, in the early evening on Tuesday, April 16, 2013.
Lee was born on Sept. 9, 1917, in Van Meter, Iowa, the daughter of the late Daniel and Lizzie Pritchard Baker. Lee and her late husband, Robert Leslie Baker, were united in marriage on July 5, 1941, and lived in Niagara Falls, N.Y.
She worked for a short time for the New York Telephone Company. She was very involved with the Girl Scouts and the Garden Club. They then moved to Ashtabula, Ohio, where Mrs. Baker was active in the Garden Club, the Tourist Club, and the Women’s Service League. Lee was a seamstress, specializing in draperies.
Mrs. Baker was a 49 year member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ashtabula.
In addition to her parents, five brothers and seven sisters, Lueta was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 3, 2008.
Survivors include her two daughters, Kathryn L. (Orville) Seeley of Austinburg, Ohio, and Margaret B. (Douglas) Ford of Westerville, Ohio; four grandchildren, Brian O. (Angel) Seeley, Kevin R. (Crystal) Seeley, Emily J. (Carl) Conrad and Ethan T. Ford; and six great-grandchildren, Brayden, Stryker and Danica Seeley and Michael, Alyssa and Rebecca Conrad.
Funeral Services will be held 11:30 a.m. at the Hillside Cemetery Chapel, on Saturday, April 20th, where the Rev. Donald Barnes will celebrate Lee’s life.
Family and friends may visit at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel, 164 N. High St., Cortland, Ohio, on Saturday, April 20th, from 10 to 11 a.m. before proceeding to the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Senior Independence Hospice, 6715 Tippecanoe Road, Canfield, Ohio 44406.
