CONNEAUT — Francis G. “Jerry” Specht, age 78, of Conneaut, died Thursday, July 25, 2013, at the Villa at the Lake.
Jerry was born August 21, 1934, in Conneaut, the son of Francis X. and Mariann A. (Nickles) Specht. He was a 1952 graduate from Rowe High School.
He worked for many years at the former Norton Company, starting out at the ground floor level of jobs and worked his way up to Plant Superintendent. Jerry later retired at the age of 65.
Jerry was a member of St. Mary/ St. Frances Cabrini Parish and St. Andrews Church and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed watching the Cleveland Browns and Indians. He also enjoyed playing cards, yard work, his birdfeeders and most especially spending time with his family.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Margaret “Peggy” Partee in 2012; and a sister, Christine Ingersoll.
He is survived by his wife, Norma “Jean” (Valenti) Specht; sisters, Mariann McKinley, Kathryn Sackett and Susan and Dennis McDonald, all of Conneaut; brothers, Paul and Joyce Specht of Conneaut, Richard and Kathy Specht of Conneaut and Robert Specht of Richmond, Va.; grandchildren, Blaine and Jessica Partee of Ovitio, Fla.; and a great-grandchild, Zoe Partee; and several nieces and nephews.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 30th, at St. Mary Church, 480 State St., Conneaut, with Fr. Philip Miller officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve. Envelopes will be available at RAISIAN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 581 Harbor St., Conneaut, where arrangements are being handled.
Jerry’s family would like to extend a personal thank you for the care and compassion given to Jerry during his stay at the Villa at the Lake and to the Hospice of the Western Reserve.
