ASHTABULA — Myrna Lou Jones, age 75, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Ashtabula County Medical Center Hospice Unit.
The beloved daughter of Quentin and Bernice (Hoover) Christensen, she was born on Sept. 15, 1937, in Pierpont, Ohio, and was a graduate of Harbor High School. On July 7, 1956, she married Donald Jones and they were married fifty-six years, prior to his death on Nov. 26, 2012.
Myrna was employed by the Ashtabula City Water Company as the office manager for twenty years. She was a dedicated employee and truly enjoyed her job. Her time at work was her freedom, her peace and her tranquility in life.
She was active in many local play productions. She enjoyed reading and traveling. Myrna was eclectic in her reading, from biographies to romance novels and anything in between. She had “happy feet” and enjoyed the many trips that she took; never failing to tell you that you should visit the wonderful places she had been.
Myrna will be remembered for her courage during her trials and her hope that tomorrow would always be a new day.
She is survived by her children, Donald (Roseann) Jones Jr., Lisa Roth and Timothy (Barb) Jones, all of Ashtabula and Christopher Jones of Rocky River; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Joann Yarman of Lake Park, Fla., Brenda Rockwell of Jamesville, N.Y., and Paul Christensen of Pataskala, Ohio; and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Jones Sr. and her parents.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 7th, at the DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, with Kathleen Shaffer as celebrant.
