EDINBORO, Pa. — Ronald Allen Larson, age 78, of Edinboro, Pa., died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012.
Ron was born in Ashtabula, Ohio, to Allen G. and Lucille (Smith) Larson. He graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1952. He was a proud graduate of The Ohio State University, (B.S. in Geology). Ron obtained subsequent degrees from Baldwin Wallace (teaching), University of Florida (Masters of Education), and SUNY at Buffalo (Doctor of Education).
He taught 30 years at Edinboro State University in the Earth Science Department serving as Department Head on several occasions.
Ron married three times: first to Jean Larson (nee McElroy) in 1958. That marriage resulted in three daughters: Julie of Estero, Fla.; Jill (Mark Hanish) of Baden, Pa.; and Jaye of Edinboro, Pa. In 1982, he married Vicki (nee Firth) and they had a son Reid of Winston-Salem, N.C. and a daughter Dayna of Boulder, Colo. In 2002, he married Hillis Larson.
Ron demonstrated dedication to the town where he lived for more than 40 years by serving on the Zoning Commission of Washington Township and on the school board for the General McLane School District. Ron enjoyed fishing, golfing and gardening. For many years, he enjoyed a second home in Marshallberg, N.C.
Ron is also survived by grandchildren, Cole Johnson, Mica Hannish and Leuca Hannish; and sister, Nancy (Bob) Davis of Ashtabula.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
There will be no public services.
