Marlene M. Dodge-Collins

GENEVA — Marlene M. Dodge Collins, age 80, of Geneva, Ohio, passed away suddenly in the early morning of Wednesday, April 3, 2013.

She now joins her husbands Harold Dodge and Harold Collins, in heaven. Her parents, brother Richard Duncan, and many friends will also greet her there.

Marlene was born on July 8, 1932, in Geneva, as one of two children of Elizabeth (Grapatin) and Harry Duncan. Harry passed away while Marlene was still a child and Elizabeth married Richard Thackwell years later.

Marlene was a member of St. John's Lutheran church and was proud that her mother's parents help found and build the original Lutheran church in Geneva. Marlene was an active member of many groups at church before becoming a "Snow bird" and retiring to Florida. She enjoyed playing the slots and was always ready to go try her luck, which was pretty good! She also enjoyed creating oil paintings and crafts.

She enjoyed being with her husband, Harold Dodge, and their family of Valerie (Ed) Leitch of Geneva; Bill (Michelle) Dodge of Cortland, Marge Barrows and companion Jack Vessy of Paris, Tenn. Also surviving are four grandchildren and spouses; and seven great-grandchildren who called her GG, for great-grandma. She was also loved by her step-family with Harold Collins of three children and spouses, Judy (Bill) Potter of Fla.,  Lynne (Tim) Povhe of Cleveland and Harold "Mick" (Debbie) Collins of Madison; many grand, great and great-great-grandchildren.

Prior to her retiring from Phillip's Imports of Geneva after 20 years, she had worked at many local businesses including her favorites, Nash Rambler; and The Chicken Coop, an old restaurant at Geneva-on-the-Lake, where she enjoyed working as a teenager.

Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, April 8th, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 811 S. Broadway, Geneva, with viewing beginning at 10 a.m. Pastor Jonathan C. Schroeder will be officiating the Service and the Burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Geneva.

Calling Hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, April 7th, at WALKER FUNERAL HOME, 828 Sherman St., Geneva.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church Landscaping Fund in her memory.
