JEFFERSON — Guy W. Utterback, age 68, of N. Market St., Jefferson, died unexpectedly early Wednesday morning, April 3, 2013, at his residence.

He was born August 19, 1944, in Ashtabula, the son of Leonard W. and Alice I. (Wilson) Utterback. He was a graduate of Jefferson Area High School and was a resident of Jefferson all of his life. Guy was married to Elizabeth F. “Beth” Piper on Jan. 10, 1970, at the Cherry Valley Methodist Church.

He worked the Utterback Dairy Farm from age seven, when he started milking cows with his father until 1987 when he went to work for Ashta Chemicals, retiring in 2010.

Guy was a devoted family man and proud “grandad” to his three beautiful grandchildren. He enjoyed attending his children’s baseball and softball games and their band events. He liked helping his son with his demolition derby cars and supporting his daughter with her horses. He also enjoyed antique cars. He was a member of the Ashtabula Co. Farm Bureau and to this day he still missed working in the fields.

Survivors include his wife, Beth; two children, Gary W. Utterback of University Heights and Kari I. Luoma of Garrettsville; three grandchildren, Myra, Bennett and Jared; two sisters, W. Lenette Hall of Sarasota, Fla. and Lane G. (Richard) Ahlers of Lakewood; a brother, Edward L. (Carol Ann) Utterback of Jefferson; four nephews; and mother-in-law, Ethel F. Piper of Cherry Valley.

His parents and a brother, Leonard W. Utterback preceded him in death.
