SAYBROOK TOWNSHIP — Genevieve E. Snyder, age 97, of North Bend Road in Saybrook Township, died Saturday, May 11, 2013, at her home.
She was born August 12, 1915, in Butler County, Pa., the daughter of Herbert R. and Rebecca Ellen (Beale) Doutt.
She had been employed with Cochran Schools in Pennsylvania and in Ashtabula she had worked for Moses Grocery Store. She along with her husband, Edward lived in Cuba for a year and in Casablanca, Morocco for three years. While in Casablanca, she volunteered as a Gray Lady with the Red Cross.
She was a 65 year member of the Grand Order of Eastern Star of Meadville, Pa. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, knitting and playing cards, especially Rummy, Canasta and Pinochle.
Surviving her are two daughters, Nancy (Robert) Adams of Ashtabula and Janet E. (Norman Wortman) English of Conneaut; a son, David E. Snyder of Indialantic, Fla.; a son-in-law, Richard (Gail) McIndoe of Fairfield, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Janet (Norman) Rettig of Orlando, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Edward Snyder in 1976; her second husband, Clarence “red” Christianson in 1997; a daughter, Norma R. McIndoe in 1997; a son, James E. Snyder in 1957; three grandchildren; three brothers; and four sisters.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 14th, at the Ashtabula Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 526 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Charles Oplinger officiating. Burial will be in Lulu Falls Cemetery in Kingsville, Ohio.
Calling Hour will be from 10 a.m. until time of Service, Tuesday, at the Funeral Home.
