JEFFERSON — Robert Paul “Banjo” Fockler, age 84, of S. Elm St., Jefferson, Ohio, died Tuesday morning, April 30, 2013, at the Jefferson Healthcare Center.

Born Sept. 6, 1928, in Summersville, W.Va., the son Okey and Annie (Fitzwater) Fockler, he was a graduate of Summerville High School and was a Veteran of the U. S. Army serving in the Korean Conflict. He has been a resident of this area since 1959, coming from Summersville, W.Va.

Mr. Fockler retired in 1983 after spending 25 years with Rockwell Plastics. He was also the former owner of a sport shop and gas station in Summerville, W.Va.

A member of the Jefferson Church of the Nazarene, he enjoyed fishing and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife, Wanita P. (Painter) Fockler, whom he married on April 6, 1952; a son, William H. Fockler of Jefferson; two grandchildren, Jennifer Fockler of Ashtabula and Robert Fockler of Geneva; a brother, Clyde Fockler of Summerville, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Herbert Fockler.

Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, May 3rd, at the Jefferson Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, INC., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. Rod Kincaid, of the Jefferson Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery.

Calling Hours will be held TODAY, Thursday, May 2nd, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio 44004.
