ASHTABULA — Guido A. Perone, age 85, of Ashtabula, died Friday morning, August 2, 2013, at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home.
Born March 3, 1928, in Chicago, Ill., he was the son of Constantino and ConSiglia (Ganna) Perone.
Guido was a Veteran of the United States Navy and was formerly employed by McCarter Painting Company, retiring as a carpenter and painter.
On Sept. 26, 1982, he married the former Linda Hale in Ashtabula. He enjoyed playing the harmonica, joking with people, playing Bingo and solitaire, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid collector of Coca Cola products.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Perone of Ashtabula; daughter, Rita Perone (James) Bush of Ashtabula; grandchildren, Ashley, Zachary, Chris, Nicholas, Kyle , Alexis, Serenity, Guido and Zoie; family friend, Spec. Josh Pauley serving in Afghanistan; and sisters, Amelia Frederisy, Josephine Jacob, Antoinette Lerch and Sue Sales, all of Chicago, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tina Hale; grandson, James Alex Bush; brother, Joseph Perone; and a sister, Rose Blunk.
Funeral Service will be held 8 p.m., Monday, at GUERRIERO FUNERAL HOME, 1550 W. 19th St., Ashtabula, with Fr. Ernesto Rodriguez officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the U.S. Navy.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until time of Service, Monday, at the Funeral Home. A Social gathering will take place before the visitation at the Eagles Club on Center St. from 3 to 5 p.m. on Monday.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home and Crossroads Hospice for the wonderful care they provided.
