JEFFERSON — Paul P. Kolakowski, age 79, of Miller Road, New Lyme Township, Ohio, died early Monday morning, Jan. 6, 2014, at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born Jan. 14, 1934, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of the late Paul P. and Frances (Darszewski) Kolakowski. He has been a resident of this area since 1977, coming from Parma. Mr. Kolakowski was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp, serving in the Korean Conflict. He was married to Polly Merritt Aliff on August 19, 1978, in Broadview Heights.
Mr. Kolakowski retired from the Geneva Rubber Co. in 1999.
He attended the Church of God Prophecy in North Kingsville and was a member of the steel worker’s union.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading and watching football.
Survivors include his wife, Polly Aliff Kolakowski; eight children, Paul P. Kolakowski Jr. of Florida, Cynthia (Douglas) Schreckengost of Rock Creek, Vivian R. (Tom) Simonic of New Lyme Township, Anita J. White of Rome Township, Lila J. Aliff of Sheffield Lake, Calvin T. (Barb) Aliff of Austinburg Township, Rema M. (Charles) Stevens of Jefferson and Dallas J. (Pam) Aliff of Geneva; 27 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Grace Messenger of Broadview Heights.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three children, John S. Kolakowski, Madeline M. Marsch and Lucian R. Aliff; two brothers, Edwin Wheeler and Albin Kolakowski; and four sisters, Irene Minnich, Claire Bizovsky, Geraldine Perryman and Laura Kessel.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 9th, at the Jefferson Home of the FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS & CREMATORY, INC., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, Ohio, with the Rev. Harry Shipley, of the Church of God of Prophecy in North Kingsville, officiating. Burial will be in Brownville Cemetery.
Calling Hours will be held 5 to 7 p.m. TODAY, Wednesday, Jan. 8th, at the Funeral Home.
