ASHTABULA — Bradford James Agnew, age 36, of West Prospect Road, Ashtabula, Ohio, passed away peacefully Monday, June 24, 2013, after a heroic battle with brain cancer.
He was born June 6, 1977, in Ashtabula, the son of Jeff and Janet (Hanek) Agnew and had been a lifelong Ashtabula resident.
A 1995 graduate of Harbor High School, he worked as a carpenter most of his life.
On March 27, 2010, he married Joann Bost whom he has lovingly referred to as his “Honeybutt” ever since.
Throughout his courageous battle with cancer, he has inspired many and became known as “superman” and “the man of steel” to his family and friends as they referred to him as “Our Superman”. To the family, superman has stood for hope, courage, and a test of faith.
His favorite “passion” was his carpentry work and being known as the family “peace-keeper”. He loved his family and adored his children. He also enjoyed playing cards, fishing, boating, and spending time with the many wonderful friends whom he loved so dearly.
His survivors include his wife, Joann Agnew; three children, Joseph Bruce, Brandon Agnew and Bradley Agnew; his parents, Jeff and Jan Agnew of Ashtabula; two brothers, Steve (Mai-Linh) Hanek and Jeff (Amber) Agnew Jr., both of Ashtabula; nieces and nephews, Izabella, Lauren, Michael Jeffrey, Julia and Justin; his grandparents, Larry Hanek of Ashtabula and Evonne and Lyle Agnew of Inverness, Fla.; aunts and uncles, Harold and Shelly Cates of Ft. Worth, Texas, Mary, Jimmy and Buddy Agnew of Florida and Cindy Skaruppa of Portland, Ore.; and his beloved dogs, “Bodey and Benny”.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Joyce Hanek.
Calling Hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a Service to follow at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 28th, at the Pentecostal Church of God, 2201 Cook Road, Ashtabula. The Rev. Kenneth Roberts, Pastor, will officiate.
