CLEVELAND — Mary Jo Orahood, age 72, died on Sunday, June 23, 2013, at the Cleveland Clinic.

She was born on Feb. 14, 1941, in Painesville, Ohio, to Luman and Josephine (Wickert) Johnson. She graduated from Andover High School in 1959 and married Ronald E. Orahood on April 9, 1960.

Mary Jo began her employment at the Andover Public Library as a part-time librarian before working her way to become its Director in 1983. Mary Jo was very instrumental in the growth and development of the library, because of her passion for reading, she wanted to pass it on to the community. She retired in October of 2007.

She was a charter member of the Andover Christian Church, where she was active as a Sunday School teacher and Vacation Bible School director for many years. Mary Jo was a former member and Past President of the Andover Rotary Club, and was very active with the Pymatuning Valley Music Boosters and Cub Scouts. Her love of reading was shared with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

Mary Jo was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Todd E. Orahood on August 31, 2011; and her brother, Ronald Johnson.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald of Andover; her sons, Brian (Billie) Orahood of Bremo Bluff, Va., and Scott (Sonia) Orahood of Andover; her two sisters, Barbara (Russell) Hall of Conneaut, Ohio, and Linda Russo of Painesville, Ohio; and her grandchildren, Mallory Orahood, Meredith (Shawn) Burton, Tesla Rodriguez, Cassandra Orahood, Ethan Rodriguez and Isaac Orahood.

Funeral Services will be held at the Andover Christian Church, Stillman Ave., Andover, Ohio, on Thursday, June 27th, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Brian Orahood officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Andover.

Calling Hours will be held at BAUMGARDNER FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICE, 134 Prospect St., Andover, on Wednesday, June 26th, from 5 to 8 p.m.
