CLEVELAND — Ellis L. Watson, age 79, of Monroe Circle, Jefferson, Ohio, passed away on Monday at University Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio.
Born on Feb. 3, 1935, in St. George, W.Va., he was the son of James E. and Lessie (Ercel) Watson and has lived in this area most of his life. In 1984, he married his beautiful bride Jessie "Patricia" Moore.
He worked for Rockwell for several years before working as a chauffeur for the railroad.
Ellis enjoyed fishing, camping, antique cars and trucks. He was also passionate about making wine and wooden clocks from Cyprus. However, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his heart and they have fond memories of grandpa and the stories that he would tell them.
Ellis is survived by his wife, Pat Watson of Jefferson; step-children, Earl R. (Debbie) Sherman Jr. of Grand Junction, Colo., Ricky D. (Pam) Sherman of Grand Junction, Colo., Cindy A. Sherman of Jefferson, Michael J. Sherman of Jefferson, Pamela S. Sherman of North Bloomfield and Paula J. Sherman of Ashtabula; grandchildren, Danny, Jerry, Joey, Erlean, Sammy, Kristy, Zach, Johnny, Roberta, Jody, Tara, Ambra, Casey, Tyler, Michael, Brenda, Ashley, Ellisia, Vincent, Jesse, Jodi-rae, Ricky, Sean, Heather, Nikki and James; 36 great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-sons, Eugene and Tim Sherman; two brothers; and four sisters.
A Rigatoni Benefit Dinner will be held on Saturday, March 1st, from 2 to 6 p.m., at Harassments located at 900 N. Market St., Jefferson, Ohio 44047. Entertainment will be provided. There will also be a Chinese Auction, 50/50 raffle and baskets. Envelopes will also be provided for donations. Donations for baskets can be made ahead of time by calling Pamela at 216-310-9559.
A Celebration of Life will be held 7 p.m. on Monday, March 3rd, at Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall, 1032 Route 46 South, Jefferson, with Judson Cole leading the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at the hall.
