AUSTINBURG — Marie E. (Baker) Hodge, age 94, formerly of Burlingham Drive, passed away Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at Austinburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Dec. 28, 1919, in East Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Howard Henry and Jessie Hannah (Henderson) Baker. On June 21, 1939, she married the love of her life Joseph T. Hodge Jr. and they celebrated 70 years of marriage before his death in 2010.
Marie loved anything to do with Lake Erie, especially boating and water-skiing. She also enjoyed cooking.
She resided in Chautauqua, N.Y., for 11 years then came to Ashtabula in 1991 to be closer to her family.
Her survivors include one son, Joseph T. III of Jefferson; three grandchildren, Joseph T. IV, William J. and Jessica L. Hodge; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; her sister, Virginia Ripberger of Redington Shores, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Lois Hutchinson; her brother, Newton Baker; and her parents.
At Mrs. Hodge’s request, no services or visitation will be held.
