CONNEAUT TOWNSHIP, Pa. — William H. Pinckney, age 88, of East Springfield, Pa., died at his son’s home in Conneaut Township, Pa., following a brief illness.
Born June 8, 1926, in Davis, W.Va., he was the son of William C. and Lila (Howard) Pinckney.
Bill worked in marine construction on the St. Lawrence Seaway and at the Niagara Falls power plant for many years for Merritt Chapman. When he returned to this area, he worked as a heavy equipment operator with Union Local 66, retiring in 1994.
He attended the Albion Assembly of God, and enjoyed listening to country music and loved being with his grandkids. He was a farmer all his life and his last words were, “Be sure to bring in the cows.”
Survivors include his son, Wendell (Charleen) Pinckney of Albion, Pa.; his daughter, Sherilyn Pinckney of North East, Pa.; four grandchildren, William (Nichole) Pinckney, Garian Pinckney, Katelyn Pinckney and Cameron McFadden; two great-grandchildren, Natalie Pinckney and Averie Pinckney; several nieces, nephews and more distant relatives; and good friends, Jesse and Abigail Kitchen of North East, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Virginia (Sumner) Pinckney in 1992; his father and mother-in-law, Walter and Hazel Sumner; his brother, Robert Pinckney; and a nephew, Gary Pinckney.
Funeral Services will be at 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 2nd, at the MARCY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, Ohio, with Pastor Carolynn Kitchen, of Orchard Beach Assembly of God of North East, officiating. Following the service, a luncheon will be held at the Marcy Family Center, 180 Harbor St., Conneaut, Ohio. Burial will be Thursday morning, July 3rd, in East Springfield Cemetery, East Springfield, Pa.
Calling Hours will be at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m.
