NORTH KINGSVILLE — William B. “Bill” Headley, age 79, of North Kingsville, passed away Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at St. Vincent Hospital in Erie, Pa.
He was born August 11, 1933, in Ashtabula, Ohio, the son of Roy and Caroline (Blair) Headley. In his early years, Bill enlisted in the United States Army, serving during the Korean War.
After his years in the service, he worked on the boats in 1965 and then was employed at Elkem in maintenance, retiring in the early 1990’s; he later worked for a bit at Giant Eagle.
He was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Ashtabula, enjoyed camping, traveling, gardening, carpentry, bird watching, flowers, and was an animal lover. He also attended the Coin Electrical School.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian R. (Prussia) Headley whom he married Oct. 3, 1964; three daughters, Nora (John) Maurer of Monroe Township, Elaine Headley-Ta of St. Marys, Ga. and Jennifer (Matt) Stenger of Akron, Ohio; grandchildren, Erika (Dave) Anderson of St. Marys, Ga., Will Ta of St. Marys, Ga. and Devon, Scott and Samuel Maurer, all of Monroe Township; great-grandson, Tanner Anderson of St. Marys, Ga.; a sister, Jean VanDervort of Virginia; and a brother, Jim (Helen) Headley of Charlotte, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Barbara Parker.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 13th, at MARCY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, with the Rev. John Jones, of Lighthouse Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville, Ohio.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of Service, Thursday, at the Funeral Home.
