JEFFERSON — Josephine E. Curie, age 93, of Route 46 South, died Sunday, June 29, 2014, at the Jefferson Healthcare Center.
Born April 7, 1921, in Lenox Township, Ohio, she was the daughter of Andrew W. and Marie (Diemer) Corkrean. Josephine was a lifelong resident of Jefferson, Ohio. She was a graduate of Jefferson High School and Akron University with a Bachelor’s degree in nursing. On Nov. 14, 1942, Josephine married Ralph E. Curie in Jefferson.
During W.W.II, she worked as an Industrial Nurse in the Cleveland area for companies like Jack & Heintz. She worked as head supervising nurse for the Ashtabula County Medical Center for 18 years until her retirement in 1986. Prior to that, she proudly worked for Dr. Harold Franley.
She is survived by her sons, Edward R. (Valori) Curie of Jefferson and Dr. Charles A. (Tamera) Curie of Jefferson; brother, John W. (Dorothy) Corkrean of Lenox Township; six grandchildren, Paul Curie, Camille Easton, Vanessa Curie, Elizabeth Curie, Andrew Curie and Carrie Ross; six great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by her parents; husband, Ralph Curie in 2003; and a sister, Marie Topper.
Funeral Services will be held 12:30 p.m., Saturday, July 5th, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 32 East Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. Fr. John Sheridan officiating. Burial will take place in Oakdale Cemetery on Monday, July 7th, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Philip Miller officiating.
Calling Hours will be held at the Jefferson Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS & CREMATORY, INC., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, from 10 to 12 p.m. prior to the Funeral Service at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 32 East Jefferson St., Jefferson, Ohio 44047.
