Janice M. Morell

CLEVELAND —

ASHTABULA – Janice May Morell, age 65, passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2014, at the Cleveland Clinic after a sudden illness.

The daughter of John and Nina (Faulkerson) Jones, she was born on Oct. 13, 1948, in Ashtabula, Ohio, and had remained a life-long area resident. Janice was a graduate of Jefferson High School.

Janice had a zest for life. Her children and close friends called her “Wheezer”, because of her strength and resolute determination. Janice loved music and dancing; a good night was listening to “do-wop” and country music, and dancing with her friends and family. Born with an ornery streak, she would pull crazy stunts to get your attention. Janice loved teasing her friends and family. Janice was not afraid to express  her opinion loudly and often. Her favorite season was springtime, she watched for the first flowers of spring. Of all of her flowers around the house, she enjoyed her lilac trees and her lily beds. Janice was a lover of all of God’s creatures; her home was a haven for those abused and stray animals. She took them all in and she would feed them her last scrap of food to save them.

A wonderful mom, she was even a better G’Ma. She spoiled her grandchildren and great-grandchildren constantly. She received great delight in giving each one her grandchildren a special nickname. You knew you were loved when you were given that special title.

Janice will be remembered for her quirky sense of humor, love of all creatures great and small, her strength and quiet spiritual belief that she was part of a greater plan. Her greatest joy was the satisfaction of being with her beloved family. She loved being a sister, mom, G’Ma, and friend.

Janice is survived by her daughters, Davina (Nelson Marquez) Smith of Ashtabula and Dionna (Randy) Sanchez of Geneva; 11 grandchildren, Adriana, Jessica, David, Nelson, Isaiah, Stacy, Andrew, Sheena, Johnny Joe, Ashlee and Joshua; 12 great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Demarina, Elesiana, Manny, Armando, Emilio, Dominic, Deangelo, Devon, Caliee, Mason, Ayden and one soon to be expected; her siblings, Larry (Jackie) Jones of Geneva, Claudia (Bob) Coy of Kingsville, Kathy (Ray) Carroll, Hattie Story, Jerry (Gloria) Jones, and Johnny (Debbie) Jones, all of Ashtabula, and Terri (Willeman) Ochoa of North Carolina; and a “boatload” of loving nieces and nephews; her longtime companion, Charleston Bridges; her best friend, Marge Radtz; and close “sister friend”, Betty.
