CHARDON — Richard J. Salviano Sr., age 78, of Ashtabula, Ohio, died late Saturday evening, April 13, 2013, at the University Hospital of Geauga County.
Born Feb. 10, 1935, in Ashtabula, he was the son of the late Ishmael and Assunta (Imbrogno) Salviano. Richard graduated from Ashtabula High School, Class of 1953. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. On Sept. 8, 1960, he married his wife of 52 years the former Joann Johnson.
Mr. Salviano was employed by the New York Central Railroad and True Temper. He retired from the Obron Co. He also was self-employed with Salviano and Sons Lawncare.
He was an avid Cleveland sports and Ohio State Buckeye fan.
Survivors included his wife, Joann Salviano of Ashtabula; daughters, Angel (Douglas) Griffith of Ashtabula and Glory Salviano of Red Lion, Pa.; sons, Michael Salviano of Ashtabula, Richard (Tammi) Salviano Jr. of Kingsville and Matthew Mark (Leslie) Salviano of Tucson, Ariz.; grandchildren, Michael, Rachael, Max, Kelsie, Kalin, Marissa, Maranda, Harmony, Melody and Roman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jehoshuah Salviano; and sisters, Josephine Landolfi, Mary DeCriescentis and Sr. Mary Michael (Anna Salviano).
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. on Friday, April 19th, in Our Lady of Peace Parish, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, with burial to follow in Ridgeview Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 18th, from 5 to 8 p.m. at GUERRIERO FUNERAL HOME, 1550 West 19th St., Ashtabula, who has charge of arrangements.
