ASHTABULA — Robert Ray Spencer, age 71, of Eagle Drive, died unexpectedly Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Geauga Medical Center.

Born in Lima, W.Va., he was the son of Perry and Lettie (Tennant) Spencer and lived most of his life in Ashtabula.

Robert retired as a machinist with Phoenix Machinery in Ashtabula where he worked for more than 30 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gambling at the casino and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Connie (Wheeler) Spencer; children, Robert II (Kristy), Rodney (Bonnie), Johnny (Tessa), Stephen (Lisa), Tonya Smith and Marian Spencer; 27 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Howard (Beverly) Spencer. Also survived by many other family members and friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and one sister.

At his request, no services will be held.
