Carol M. McClintic

SAYBROOK TOWNSHIP — Carol Mae McClintic, age 74, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, at the Cleveland Clinic.

She was born August 19, 1939, in Conneaut, Ohio, the daughter of Melvin and Ethel (Kutrich) Swanson and had been a lifelong area resident. A 1957 graduate of Edgewood High School, she married Daniel McClintic on March 12, 1971.

Prior to her retirement, she worked as a clerk for Montgomery Ward and later as a bookkeeper for Nichols.

A longtime and active member of Saybrook United Methodist Church, she participated in the monthly free community dinners and the Morning Glory Group. She had been a member of the Elks Association and had regularly attended the Lodge with her husband during his tenure as an officer of the lodge. She also belonged to the Happy Travelers Senior Center Club and enjoyed the casino trips she took with the group. Carol loved animals (especially her “grandcat,” “Obi”) and enjoyed crafts, gardening with her parsley and tomato plants, and her Friday morning breakfasts with friends at the Lunch Box.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Amy S. (Robert) Kleps of Austinburg; her brother, Melvyn (Rita) Swanson of Conneaut; her niece, Angela (John) McCrory of Creston, N.C.; her nephew, Matthew Swanson of North Kingsville; four other nieces and nephews on her husband’s side; and sisters-in-law, Harriet McClintic of Ashtabula and Deanna (Allen) Barnes of Mesa, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Elmer Gran; her second husband, Daniel F. McClintic on Feb. 7, 2011; one daughter, Rebecca McClintic; one brother-in-law, Harry McClintic; two nephews, Eric Swanson and Douglas McClintic; and her parents.

Calling Hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21st, at the ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula. Also a calling hour will be held Friday, Nov. 22nd, at Saybrook United Methodist Church from 10 to 11 a.m.

A Service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 22nd, at the Saybrook United Methodist Church, 7900 S. Depot Road, Ashtabula. The Rev. Jeffrey Stoll, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Eastlake Cemetery, North Kingsville, at a later date.

Contributions may be made to the Saybrook United Methodist Church or the Animal Protective League.
