ASHTABULA — Gene H. Lister, age 83, of Ashtabula, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at Saybrook Landing.
He was born June 13, 1930, in Geneva, the son of Fred and Ruth (Hubbard) Lister. He was a lifelong county resident. Gene was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp.
He was employed with the CEI Transportation Department until his retirement in 1987. He worked as a grounds-keeper at Chapel Hills Golf Course until Nov. 2012. During his life, he enjoyed all sports, hunting, fishing, walking and was an avid golfer.
Survivors include his three sons, Tim, Terry Sr. and James (Traci) Lister, all of Ashtabula; grandchildren, Terry Jr., Tori, Gabe and Alexis; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ruth; two brothers, Arthur and Glenn; and a sister, Helen.
A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 31st, at the Ashtabula Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 526 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Kenneth Roberts, of Pentecostal Church of God, officiating. Burial will take place later at Saybrook Township Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio 44004.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Hospice; Brad and Marion Luce, and Saybrook Landing for their extraordinary care, love and support they provided to Gene.
