HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. — Margot “Maggie” MacMichael, age 88, passed away in Hendersonville, N.C., on Saturday, June 14, 2014.
She was born on May 20, 1926, in Frankfurt, Germany, and was adopted as an infant by her parents, Emma Frech (née: Shaufhauser) and Karl Frech, and grew up in Frankfurt. She completed high school in 1942 and after World War II worked as a translator in a U.S. Army bakery in Frankfurt, where she met her future husband, Donald B. MacMichael. She later came to the United States and they married in Ashtabula on June 18, 1948.
Maggie was primarily a homemaker and enjoyed baking, reading and spending time with her family. She was a devoted Lutheran.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 50 years Donald; two sisters; and a brother.
She is survived by her three children, Donald C. (Mercia) MacMichael of Hendersonville, N.C., William (Rebecca) MacMichael of Nashville, Tenn., and Linda (James) Brandow of Asheville, N.C.; eight grandchildren, Brian (Emily) MacMichael, Carl MacMichael, Marla MacMichael, Rae (Rick) Andreano, Daniel Gatewood, Kevin Brandow, Michael Brandow and Bryan (Francine) Brandow; five great-grandchildren, Linus MacMichael, Edmund MacMichael, Sidney Andreano, Ethan Brandow and Caleb Brandow; nephew, Terry (Arlene) MacMichael; niece, Barbara Kessel; nephew, Kurt (Doris) Gross of Frankfurt, Germany, and their daughter, Linda Gross of Hamburg, Germany; and many grandnephews and grandnieces.
A Funeral Service will be held 12 p.m., Noon, on Saturday, June 21st, at BAUMGARDNER FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICE, 134 Prospect St., Andover, Ohio. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Andover.
Calling Hour will be on Saturday, June 21st, from 11 a.m. until the time of Service.
