KINGSVILLE — James W. “Hambone” Hamilton, age 86, of Ashtabula, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, Dec. 28, 2013, at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family.

Born Jan. 14, 1927, in South Fork, Pa, he was the son of the late Terrance and Margaret (Shockey) Hamilton. James was a United States Army Veteran, who served his country in Germany during WWII. On April 9, 1950, he married the love of his life, Dorothy E. Evans.

James was an avid sports fan, he enjoyed playing cards, and using CB radios. In his younger years, he was a little league umpire for many years. Later in life, he enjoyed going to the senior center and visiting with friends and family. James was also a member of the East Ashtabula Club, VFW Post #943, American Legion Post #103, and the Elks Lodge #208.

Mr. Hamilton is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Dorothy; sons, Terrance (Rosalee) Hamilton and James (Inga) Hamilton, both of Ashtabula; 9 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his son, Patrick Hamilton in October 2013; his brother, Charles Hamilton; and his parents.

A Graveside Service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 2nd, at Greenlawn Memory Gardens Chapel, 3140 E. Center St., North Kingsville, with the Rev. Kenneth Roberts, of Pentecostal Church of God, officiating. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post #103.

A Celebration of James’ Life will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 2nd, at American Legion Post #103, 1804 W. 19th St., Ashtabula.

Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the family, to be donated to a charity in his name. ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula is handling arrangements.
