JEFFERSON — Harry E. Cole, age 81, of W. Cedar St., Jefferson, died Sunday morning, Dec. 22, 2013, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 26, 1932, in Jodi, W.Va., the son of Harry W. and Ruby (Gray) Cole and had been an area resident most of his life. Mr. Cole attended Kent State University and Case Western University. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Cole was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jefferson and enjoyed woodworking.
He is survived by his companion of four years, Shelby J. Smith; four children, Michael W. (Michelle) Cole of Perry, Brenda S. Luce of Jefferson, James R. (Faith) Cole of Jefferson and Kandi A. (Keith) Soltese of Roaming Shores; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Shirley A. (Warner) Cole in 2006.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, at the Jefferson Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS AND CREMATORY, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. Steve Arsulic, associate pastor of Eagleville Bible Church, officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery with Geneva VFW Post #6846 offering Full Military Honors. Pallbearers will be Michael, James, Jimmy, Ryan, Josh and John Cole.
Calling Hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at the Funeral Home.
