GENEVA —  Dr. Daniel H. Duffy Sr., age 83, of Geneva, Ohio, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at the Geneva Village Rehabilitation and Nursing Home, following a brief illness.

He was born in Providence, R.I., on Sept. 12, 1930, to Daniel W. Duffy and Anna (Cote) Duffy.

A Veteran, he joined the Air Force at the age of 17 and rose to the rank of Major. He was a pilot with SAC/Strategic Air Command, flying B52 and B58 aircraft, and was a crew member on the first B58 to target a nuclear test pod at Mach 2. He was also a flight navigator, small arms instructor, and boxed for the Air Force. He retired from the Air Force after 21 years to attend Logan College of Chiropractic.

Dr. Duffy established a chiropractic clinic in Geneva with his wife, and practiced from 1972 to 2011.

He was a charter diplomate with the International College of Applied Kinesiology; was a post-graduate instructor training hundreds of doctors in Applied Kinesiology throughout the USA; and published many research papers.

He is survived by three brothers, Thomas Duffy of Ashtabula, Robert Duffy of Providence, R.I., and Bernard Martin of Texas; one sister, Jean (Duffy) Carpenter of Hope Valley, R.I.; and his children, Debbie (Ray) Bell of Bermuda, Dr. Cecilia A. Duffy (Dr. John Heidrich) of Geneva, Dr. Daniel H. Duffy Jr. (Dr. Deborah Johnson) of Chardon and Dr. DeeDee Duffy (Mr. John H. Paul) of Thompson; grandchildren, Barbara-Anne Thorne, Laura-Jane Forbes, Gregory (Martina) Bell, Paige Heidrich, Daniel O.  Duffy, Megan Duffy, Gabriel Paul and Celia Duffy; and great-grandchildren, Aiden Thorne, Joshua Thorne, Caleb Forbes and Noah Forbes.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Ray Martin, Jack Duffy and Joe Duffy; and his wife, Cecilia P. (DiSalvatore) Duffy.

Calling Hours will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 3rd, at ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, Ohio.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3rd, at Sacred Heart Church, 3049 St. Rt. 45, Rock Creek, Ohio, with the Reverend Father John Madden presiding. Full Military Honors will follow by the American Legion Dewey-Howlett Post #103. A private burial will take place at Mechanicsville Cemetery, Austinburg Township at a later date.
