Antoinette A. Oscar

KINGSVILLE — Antoinette Angela Oscar, age 100, of N. Wright St., passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at her home.

She was born August 9, 1912, in Ashtabula, the daughter of Dominic and Madeline (Bertone) Palumbo and had been an Ashtabula resident most of her life except for the 17 years she lived in Catskill, N.Y.

She attended St. Joseph school and had a life-long devotion to the Catholic faith. She belonged to both St. Joseph Church and St. Andrews Church and attended church daily. Along with her husband, she volunteered many hours  to the church and its causes.

She enjoyed cooking and entertaining large groups, traveling and reading. She was also gifted at crocheting and had made afghans for all of her grandchildren. Her family often joked about how much yarn she seemed to go  through for her creations.

Her survivors include four children, John Anthony (Marie) Oscar of Wilmington, Del., Clive (Betty) Oscar of Kingsville, James (Gloria) Oscar of Huntingdon, Pa. and Joseph (Cyndi) Oscar of Richmond Township; 15 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Josephine Paren of Ashtabula and Rita (Al) Shampine of McClellan, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony John Oscar; two brothers, Joseph and Paul Palumbo; two sisters, Mary Fuerst and Anna Marie Namestnick; and her parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, April 8th, at Our Lady of Peace Parish, St. Joseph Worship Site, 3312 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, with the Rev. Raymond Thomas, Pastor, presiding. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Ashtabula.

Calling Hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, April 7th, at ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula.

Contributions may be made to Our Lady of Peace Parish or for Masses.
