ASHTABULA — Charlotte Lagoni, age 77, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 28, 2013, in the Hospice Unit at ACMC with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. on July 18, 1935, the daughter of Christopher and Josephine Smith. In 1949, she met the love of her life, Donald Lagoni, in Pittsburgh. The two were married on June 18, 1955 in Angola, Ind. She was a devoted wife of 58 years, a loving mother of four children, five grandchildren, and one great-grandson.
She is survived by her loving family: her husband, Donald; her children, Donald (Sue) Lagoni of Mentor, Kevin Lagoni of Indian Trail, N.C., and Kimberly Lagoni and Teresa Pritt, both of Ashtabula; her grandchildren, Donnie Lagoni, Michael (Meghan) Lagoni, Nikki (Jared) Lagoni-Howes, Renee Lagoni and Tori Pritt; her great-grandson, Taylor Petty; her brother, Chris (Joan) Smith; and a sister, Marie (Jim) Fisher.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings.
She worked at the former Nelson Machine and retired in 2000 from Premix after more than 20 years of service.
She was known throughout the county for baking for special occasions, especially for her amazing nut rolls and clothespin lady locks. She enjoyed cooking family dinners - every Sunday she served her homemade cavatelli; and she made every holiday gathering special.
Calling Hours will be held from 3 to 6 p.m., Sunday, June 30th, at GUERRIERO FUNERAL HOME, 1550 W. 19th St., Ashtabula.
A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, July 1st, at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens in North Kingsville.
