ANDOVER — David A. Barnhart, age 81, of Bushnell Road, Monroe Township, Ohio, died Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at the Andover Village Nursing Home in Andover, Ohio.
He was born Dec. 14, 1931, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Glenn and Roslyn (Raus) Barnhart.
He had worked as a Distribution Manager for Standard Oil and Gas; and had owned Ashtabula Glass and had owned Barnhart Trucking, until his retirement a few years ago.
He was Past Master and a fifty-year plus member of Orion Lodge #353 F&AM; a member of El Kadir Grotto; a member of the Ashtabula County Builders Association; and a member of the Monroe Radio Controlled Airplane Club.
He enjoyed gardening, traveling and radio controlled planes. He made grandfather clocks and school clocks for his family.
Surviving him are his wife, Florence Barnhart, whom he married May 14, 1986; five children, Ruth (Harry) Harley of North Kingsville, Vickie (Jeff Waltman) Lawrence of Rantoul, Ill., Denise (Jeff) Wilson of Geneva, David R. Barnhart of Cincinnati and Scott (Kelly) Barnhart of Saybrook; a step-daughter, Joanne (Greg) Parker of Cherry Valley; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; his brother-in-law, Ron Thomas of Kenton, Ohio; and the mother of his children, Norma Barnhart.
He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Barnhart; his mother, Roslyn Sparling; his step-father, Encil Sparling; his step-son, Tom Sharp; his great-grandchild, Lucas Lawrence; and his sister, Patricia Morrison.
Private Graveside Services will be held at Kelloggsville Cemetery in Monroe Township with Pastor Samara Jenkins of Monroe United Methodist Church officiating.
