ASHTABULA — Gerald Robert Huffman, age 73, a resident of Ashtabula Township, died late Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, in Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Born Oct. 21, 1939, in Ashtabula, he was the son of Clarence and Roberta (Swartz) Hufffman. A graduate of Ashtabula High School in the class of 1958, he was drafted into U.S. Army in 1963 and honorable discharged in 1965. On April 15, 1967, he married the former Nicolette Massi. Together they spent 46 years of love and happiness.
He was employed by Loblaw’s Grocery Store in Ashtabula from 1955 until they closed in 1975. He worked for Item Industries for 21 years and retired in 1999 which he enjoyed everyday.
His interests were astronomy, the outdoors, yard work, decorating outdoors for Halloween and Christmas, vacationing in Florida, going out to eat with his wife, Geneva-on-the-Lake, car shows, the Cleveland Browns, and he enjoyed to read.
A member of Our Lady of Peace Parish (St. Joseph Church), American Legion Post 103, and the V.F.W. Post 943.
Survivors include his wife, Nicolette; a brother-in-law, Dan Massi of Ashtabula; a brother, Bill Huffman of Ashtabula; sisters, Janet Kennedy, Dodie Miller, and Betty Jean Swickard, all of Ashtabula; and his family of kitty cats.
He was preceded in death by his parents; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and his pets.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m., Monday, in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, with burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery where Full Military Services will be conducted by American Legion Post 103 Honor Guard Team.
Friends and family may call from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, at GUERRIERO FUNERAL HOME, 1550 W. 19th St., Ashtabula.
