ASHTABULA — Larry D. Armstrong, age 65, of Conneaut, Ohio, died unexpectedly Sunday, March 17, 2013, at his residence.
Larry was born on Oct. 9, 1947, in Conneaut, the son of John Sr. and Esther (Burdick) Armstrong. He attended Conneaut High and later worked at a plastics factory as a foreman, the “Gastown” gas station with his father, Transplastics as a foreman and many different shops in and around the Conneaut area.
Larry enjoyed fishing, “junking” going to auctions, especially farm auctions, old cars, his Red and White face Jersey cows and his pigs. He really liked to watch the television shows: Pawn Shops, Storage Wars and auction shows. His true love was to spend time with his favorite granddaughter, Chasitie Henderson, and the family picnics.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Armstrong; sisters-in-law, Helen Armstrong and Frances Armstrong; and a nephew, John E. Armstrong.
He is survived by his wife, Ella (Mitchell) Armstrong; step-sons, Andrew Carr of Monroe and Walter Henderson of Conneaut; daughter, Tonya Armstrong and step-daughter, Angela Van Zandt, both of Louisiana; a foster daughter, Vicki Weber; brother, John I. Armstrong of Monroe; granddaughter, Chasitie Henderson; several step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling Hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 22nd, at the RAISIAN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 581 Harbor St., Conneaut.
There will be no services and cremation will follow calling hours.
The family asks that any contributions in Larry’s memory be made to the family to help pay for funeral expenses.
