NORTH EAST, Pa. — Reynolds “Ray” Emory Norris, age 71, of North East, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at St. Mary's Home East.
He was born on June 16, 1942, in Conneaut, Ohio, to the late Alton L. and Marian J. Smith Norris. Ray grew up in Ashtabula, Ohio and graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1960. After graduating, he attended Kent State University and earned several honorary certifications.
Throughout his lifetime, he held several business positions which included, J.A.B. Industries which brought him to North East, J.C. Penney's, Value City, Wal-Mart, and he owned and operated a car wash center on Parade Street in Erie for 14 years.
He was an active member of the Praise Cathedral Church of God where he made several loving longtime friends.
Ray was a man of the highest integrity who loved the Lord and the simple things of nature. He was a giving person and considered his highest achievement of being a "105 pint blood donor" as a way of giving to those in need. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Ray is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Hardy of Bradenton, Fla.; a step-son, Jason Schroeder of Palmetto, Fla.; a sister, Rebecca Miller (Eli) of Middlefield, Ohio; grandchildren, Kevin Williams, Keannna Williams, Keelia Williams, Tajanae Hardy and Tenaya Hardy; and a step-grandson, Ayden Schroeder.
Friends may call at the WILLIAM D. ELKIN FUNERAL HOME, 65 S. Lake St., North East, on Friday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Saturday at 11 a.m., at the Praise Cathedral Church of God, 5335 Rt. 89, North East, Pa. 16428. The Rev. Michael S. Grove will officiate. Private interment at Fairview Cemetery in Mesopotamia, Ohio.
