FT. PIERCE, Fla. — Former Conneaut resident, John Lyman Zimmerman, age 76, a resident of Ft. Pierce, Fla. for the past two years, died Wednesday evening, Dec. 18, 2013, at his home following a five-year illness.
He was born July 12, 1937, in Shamokin, Pa., to Alvin C. and Beatrice (James) Zimmerman. John was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1956-1958.
He was a self-employed auto body technician and retired in 2000. He was a member of First United Methodist Church (now New Leaf) and the Lake Erie Boat Club. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and building “Munster” cars.
Survivors include his wife, Jane (Mooney) Zimmerman whom he married July 12, 1988; a step-son, Kerry (Debbie) Hall of Conneaut, Ohio; two brothers, Marlyn (Lucille) Zimmerman and Earl (June) Zimmerman, both of Conneaut; his sister, Arlene (Dave) Horton of Kingsville, Ohio; and many nieces, nephews, and more distant relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a niece, Beverly Jean Zimmerman; and a nephew, Joseph Zimmerman.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 28th, at MARCY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, Ohio, with Pastor Jan Walsh, of New Leaf United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.
Family and friends may call at the Funeral Home on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m.
