ASHTABULA —  Nicholas Jordan Thompson, age 28, died unexpectedly at his residence on Sunday, April 21, 2013.

The son of Mark and Rosemarie Thompson, he was born into his loving family in Youngstown, Ohio, on Jan. 25, 1984. Nick was a proud graduate of Edgewood High School, Class of 2002; where he participated in wrestling, soccer, and track.

A Veteran, he joined the United States Army in 2002 and was honorably discharged in 2009; after being wounded in Iraq. Nick loved being in the Army, it was his calling, his duty, and his passion, where he served with honor and pride. For his heroism, he was awarded the Medal of Valor.

On June 19, 2004, he married his high school sweetheart, Amanda (Hoplight), and together they would have celebrated nine years of marriage. Three wonderful children were born of this union; Serenity, Marcus and Adrianna.

Nick loved being a husband and daddy. With Serenity, he loved to draw and was constantly amazed at her abilities. He could sit with Marcus for many hours playing video games and trying to be a good looser. Adrianna was his baby, he enjoyed spending time with her; naptime with her was always one of his fondest memories. Nick and Amanda only needed each other to be happy, snuggling on the couch after the children were asleep became their daily routine.

Nick loved life and all that it held. He was a loving son, brother, husband and daddy. He enjoyed working on cars, fishing, “Country and Rock N Roll” music. An avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, he supported them through thick and thin. Spending a quiet day fishing was never a wasted day; he could always convince you that the big one just got away. Nick enjoyed helping his parents with the horses and was proud to see his children learning to ride and care for them as much as he did. Born with a wonderful sense of humor and the ability to see the good in everyone and everything; he was one in a million.

Nick will be remembered for his wonderful smile, his love of his family and friends, and being a wonderful daddy, husband, son and brother. He will be missed by many and remembered by all.

He is survived by his loving wife, Amanda; his beloved children, Serenity, Marcus and Adrianna, all of Ashtabula; his parents, Marc and Rosemarie Thompson of Ashtabula; his siblings, Benjamin (Toniann) Thompson of Tennessee, Coralyn (Jonny) Fiedler of Colorado, Crystal (Michael) Stemple of Texas, Philip (Christina) Thompson and Harmony Thompson, both of Ashtabula.
