GREENVILLE, Pa. — Helen Roeder Perry, age 97, formerly of Marcy Road, Pierpont, Ohio, and a resident of St. Paul Home since 2010, died on Monday, April 15, 2013.
The daughter of James W. and Sarah J. (Murphy) Roeder, she was born on April 26, 1915, in Morningside, Pa. In 1941, she married James E. Perry Jr. and together they celebrated 62 years until his death on Oct. 25, 2003. Helen and her husband had been residents of Pierpont since 1980, coming from the Pittsburgh area.
She was employed with Plotlatch Forrest Company for twenty-five years as a stitcher operator until her retirement in 1975.
Helen was a faithful and active member of the Pierpont Presbyterian Church for many years. She enjoyed baking and cooking, but her greatest enjoyment came from making her house a home. She enjoyed caring for her family. Helen loved to tell her friends about her wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren; she was so proud of all they had accomplished.
Always a person who could find the brighter side of life, she will be remembered for her ability to make you feel special when you were with her, her strength and dignity, her love of family and friends, and her faith in the Lord. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Helen is survived by her son, James A. (Becky) Perry of Cheswick, Pa.; three grandchildren, Mark Perry, Laurie (Mark) Szymkowiak and Beth (Shawn) Essey; six great-grandchildren, Justin, Tyler and Ryan Szymkowiak and Katelyn, Margeaux and Hanna Essey; two loving nieces, Joan Domanski and Sally Waslick; her close friends, Ruth Ann and Bruce Hoover, Virgil Marcy, Roger Nagy, Greg Sweet and the Marcy family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James E. Perry Jr.; her sisters, Jeanette G. Keag and Lillian E. Domanski; her brother, James W. Roeder; and her parents.
