GENEVA — Sophie Muto, age 101, of Geneva, formerly of Ashtabula, died at the Geneva Village Retirement Community on Sunday morning, April 14, 2013.
Born Sept. 8, 1911, in Italy, she was the daughter of Henry and Mary (Capulla) DeLuia
She enjoyed crocheting and making afghans for family members. Sophie was an active member of the Our Lady of Miracles (M.D.M.) on West Ave.
Survivors include her daughter, Caroline Girard of Saybrook Township; son, Anthony Muto of Ashtabula; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a brother, Fiori (Leona) DeLuia of Ashtabula.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Muto; son, Henry Muto; son-in-law, Peter Girard Jr.; granddaughter, Delana Oplinger; great-grandson, Joshua Forinash; brothers, William, Nick and Michael DeLuia; and sisters, Carmel Colantino and Rose Todero.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 17th, at Assumption Catholic Church in Geneva, with burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Ashtabula.
