CLEVELAND — Mateo Suarez, age 70, of Geneva, Ohio, passed away at University Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014.
Born in Cayey, Puerto Rico, he was a son of Domicilio and Ramona (Rivera) Suarez.
Mateo worked in the local nurseries.
He attended Park Street Christian Church in Geneva; was a New York Yankee's Baseball fan; an avid reader; and liked jig-saw puzzles. Mateo was a big hearted-caring man.
Survivors include two sisters, Verananda Suarez of Geneva and Sonia Suarez of Puerto Rico; caregivers, Ray and Diana Mundie of Geneva; a step-daughter, Robyn Summers of Kentucky; and a nephew, Jose Aponte of Geneva.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol (Allman) Suarez; sisters, Maria and Julia Suarez; brothers, Tony and Angel Suarez; and his parents.
Calling Hours will be Saturday, Jan. 11th, from 12 p.m., Noon, to 2 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service at WALKER FUNERAL HOME, 828 Sherman St., Geneva. The Rev. John Monday, of the Park Street Christian Church, will be officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Geneva, at a later date.
